Black Friday falls on November 27 this year, and every retailer will tell you to wait for it. We can't tell you what Thomann will cut that week. What we can show is how its prices actually behaved in the 11 weeks before: we have recorded the price of every product in its catalog every night since August 17, 2026.
Most prices simply don't move
Of the 37,025 products we could follow from August 17 to October 31:
| Since August 17 | Products | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Price unchanged | 31,338 | 85% |
| Cheaper now | 4,152 | 11% |
| More expensive now | 1,535 | 4% |
For most gear, the price you see in late October is the price it had in summer. A shop of this size doesn't discount everything at once; it moves a few thousand prices at a time.
Sales happen, and they end
The weekly count of price cuts shows one clear event: in the week of September 7 there were 1,141 cuts, twice the usual. In the week of September 28, prices went up 757 times, the most of any week, as that sale ended.
| Week starting | Price cuts | Price rises |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 17 | 788 | 228 |
| Sep 7 | 1,141 | 198 |
| Sep 28 | 483 | 757 |
| Oct 19 | 596 | 279 |
| Oct 26 | 458 | 207 |
And cuts don't always last: of 6,352 price cuts since August 17, 1,133, almost one in five, were later taken back to the old price or higher. Arturia's 10% cut this October lasted three days (Arturia's price cut lasted three days).
3,757 products are at their lowest right now
On October 31, 3,757 products sat at the lowest price we have recorded since August 17. A few examples:
Audient iD24, $267
Cut 25% on October 31. #15 of 205 USB audio interfaces.
Fender American Ultra II Telecaster, $2,401
Below its August price after Fender's late-October turn. #5 of 178 T style guitars.
Korg Nautilus 88 AT, $2,482
Cut 15% on October 25, its first move in our records. #1 of 13 workstations.
So, wait or buy?
- The price is at its lowest since August: buying now is fine. A Black Friday cut on top is possible, but you are already getting the best price we have seen.
- The price hasn't moved in months: this is the case where waiting can pay. Thomann ran a Cyber Week sale last November, and if this item gets a cut at all, that is the likely week.
- The brand has been raising prices: don't wait. Allen & Heath raised more than 60 prices in October alone, and none came back down.
- You need it for a gig or a lesson next week: buy it. A few percent isn't worth the gig.
Whatever you buy, check the price history first: a "sale" price that matches the price in August isn't a sale (Real vs fake discounts). We publish the real price drops every week.
Where the numbers come from. Thomann's partner feed, which we read every night. We followed every product in stock on October 31, 2026, that already had a price on August 17, 2026, and counted every price change in between. A cut counts as "taken back" when a later price went back to the price before the cut or higher. Weeks start on Monday.
