14" Wooden Snare Drums

Different woods like maple, birch, and mahogany impart unique tonal characteristics; maple is often warmer, birch brighter, and mahogany provides a rich, vintage tone.

The bearing edge, where the drumhead meets the shell, greatly influences resonance and sustain; sharper edges generally create more projection and attack.

The interior finish impacts the drum’s resonance and sustain; a smoother finish tends to produce a more open, resonant tone, while a more textured finish can dampen the sound.
