Fender American Professional: 68 guitars and basses in one day
On October 14, 68 new Fender American Professional instruments arrived at Thomann at once. It is Fender's new US-made flagship line, and this time there is no numeral in the name: the series is simply American Professional. The previous American Professional II is almost gone from Thomann: 54 of its listings had left the catalog by the end of August, and only two are still on sale.
Ten models, all made in the USA and, except for one Jazzmaster listed with a gig bag, sold with a case:
| Model | Listings | Price at Thomann |
|---|---|---|
| Stratocaster | 12 | $2,294 to $2,339 (€2,039 to €2,079) |
| Stratocaster HSS | 8 | $2,339 to $2,396 (€2,079 to €2,129) |
| Telecaster | 11 | $2,249 to $2,362 (€1,999 to €2,099) |
| Hotshot Telecaster | 5 | $2,339 to $2,396 (€2,079 to €2,129) |
| Jazzmaster | 5 | $2,396 (€2,129) |
| Jaguar | 5 | $2,407 (€2,139) |
| Jazz Bass | 8 | $2,407 to $2,475 (€2,139 to €2,199) |
| Jazz Bass V | 3 | $2,531 (€2,249) |
| Precision Bass | 8 | $2,418 to $2,475 (€2,149 to €2,199) |
| Precision Bass V | 3 | $2,531 (€2,249) |
"Listings" are colors and fingerboard options. The newcomer in the line is the Hotshot Telecaster: two Tele pickups plus a Strat pickup in the middle, on a five-way switch.
The new line costs more than the old one did. In our August 2025 records, most American Professional II Stratocasters were €1,919 to €1,999, Telecasters €1,899 to €2,049 and Jazz Basses €1,999 to €2,099. That puts the new models about €100 higher, roughly 5%.
Epiphone: updated ES-335, Casino and Riviera, at higher prices
Also on October 14, Thomann listed 27 new Epiphones. Most are updated hollow and semi-hollow models: ES-335, ES-339, Casino, Riviera, Sheraton and Broadway. Next to them are the Coronet, Wilshire P-90s, Crestwood Custom Tremotone and three basses: Embassy, SG and Thunderbird '64.
Going by Thomann's descriptions, the new ES-335 and Casino get rosewood fingerboards instead of Indian laurel. The ES-335 also gets Grover tuners and a gig bag, the Casino parallelogram inlays. The prices went up more than the spec sheet did. The old versions are still listed, so you can compare:
| Model | Old listing, still on sale | New listing | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| ES-335, Cherry | $562 (€499) | $764 (€679) | +36% |
| ES-335, Vintage Sunburst | $595 (€529) | $764 (€679) | +28% |
| Casino, Vintage Sunburst | $673 (€598) | $933 (€829) | +39% |
| Riviera, Sparkling Burgundy | $640 (€569) | $877 (€779) | +37% |
| Sheraton, Vintage Sunburst | $874 (€777) | $1,124 (€999) | +29% |
| Coronet, Ebony | $389 (€346) | $539 (€479) | +38% |
The old Coronet even got cheaper this week, from €389 to €346. If the older spec is fine with you, the old listings are the cheaper way in while they last. The old Thunderbird '64 basses are already gone: Thomann marked them down to as low as €499 in September before they disappeared, and the new Thunderbird '64 is €929.
Harley Benton: an $89 amp and 25 new starter sets
The DNAfx AmP15 is a 15-watt practice combo with a 6-inch speaker, four amp voices (clean, blues, rock and lead), and delay and reverb with tap tempo. It costs $89 (€79).
It arrived on October 13, and the next day Thomann started selling it in sets with guitars: an ST-20 with the AmP15 is $201 (€179), the ST-62CC in Lake Placid Blue with the AmP15 $258 (€229). On October 18 more sets followed, pairing guitars and basses with Soran amp-modeling pedals, from $190 (€169). That's 25 new Harley Benton starter sets in five days.
