- Handmade by master violin maker Marco Dotti in the workshop of Edgar Russ in Cremona
- based on the violin made by Guarneri del Gesu in 1742
- whose previous owners included Ferdinand David von Leipzig and Jascha Heifetz.
- Top made of typically Italian spalted hazel spruce from the Val di Fiemme
- Back made of flamed Bosnian sycamore maple
- air-dried
- Sides and neck made from the same wood as the back
- Fingerboard made from finest ebony
- The instrument is varnished in the same way as in the 17th century by the great Cremonese masters
- Wood primer based on casein and calcium
- Lacquer finish with an amber/linseed oil lacquer prepared by Edgar Russ himself
- which is coloured with pigments to give the instrument a true-to-original lacquer appearance
