Between October 24 and 27, 35 products joined Thomann's catalog. 25 carry recent article numbers, so they are new models, versions or bundles; the other 10 are older listings back in stock. By department: 14 guitars and basses, 11 drums and percussion, 3 keys and 3 PA products. After 210 arrivals the week before (New at Thomann: PRS Tekton, a 49-key MiniFreak, Gretsch e-drums), this was a weekend lull.
Effects: a neural Zoom and a lo-fi JHS
Zoom Neurig, $390
Zoom's new floor unit is built on what it calls a DNA (Dynamic Neural Archive) engine: 30 neural amp and stompbox models next to 22 conventional amp models, 139 effects and 22 cabinets. It also loads NAM A2 Lite captures and up to 50 impulse responses, runs on a rechargeable battery for about 4.5 hours, and is set up on a 2-inch dual touchscreen. #86 of 112 guitar multi effects.
JHS PHERB, $127
A dark, chorused lo-fi reverb feeding a vintage four-stage phaser, with a BREAK mode that adds a bitcrusher in front of both. Reverb decay runs from 241 ms to almost 50 seconds. It needs a 9 V supply: there's no battery slot. #56 of 135 chorus / flanger / phaser pedals.
Drums: Meinl HCS Dark and more Catalina Evo
Meinl HCS Dark Complete Cymbal Set, $435
Meinl's entry-level HCS line now comes in a dark finish: a 14" hi-hat, 16" crash and 20" ride in one box. #53 of 163 cymbal sets.
