Frequently Asked Questions

The SM58 is more mid-focused and has a more aggressive character. The M81 is cleaner and more detailed, offering a more neutral sound signature.
While usable, it’s not ideal. The supercardioid pattern can be tricky with acoustic guitar, and a condenser mic would generally provide more detail and nuance.
Given its higher impedance, a preamp with ample clean gain and a transformer output would really bring out its character and avoid sounding thin.
