The Shure SH55 Series II is a solid, reliable workhorse mic with a distinct vintage vibe. It's a fantastic choice for singers in louder bands, especially those craving that classic Elvis-era sound and needing strong feedback rejection. While it won't offer the pristine detail of a condenser, its character and build make it a real winner for live performance.

Product Description

Shure SH55 Series II Bundle

*Bundle offer comprising*, Shure SH55 Series II

*Dynamic Vocal Microphone "Elvis Mic"*

The 55SH Series II sports the distinctive UNIDYNE® II design, which has been for more than 60 years a symbol of the stage and show business. The microphone combines the nostalgia of the 50s and 60s with modern transducer technology and Shure's typical presence boost, making it an excellent choice for vocals. Via the cardioid polar pattern, it isolates the sound source very effectively against incoming sound from the rear of the microphone, so that there is little risk of feedback from nearby speakers. The 55SH Series II can also be used under adverse acoustic conditions where omnidirectional microphones can not be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SM58 is a bit more neutral and versatile, while the SH55 has a more pronounced mid-range presence, giving it a 'vintage' character.
While usable for recording, its character is better suited for live performance; a condenser mic would likely offer more detail and flexibility for studio work.
Singers with warmer vocal tones, or those aiming for a retro rock ‘n’ roll sound, will find the SH55’s presence boost particularly flattering.
