Frequently Asked Questions

The MKH 8020 offers a slightly more neutral and open sound, while the KM 184 can be perceived as a bit warmer. Both are excellent, but the Sennheiser excels at capturing detail and clarity.
While technically capable, its omnidirectional pattern and lack of a pad make it less ideal for vocals, especially in less-than-perfect acoustic spaces. It’s best suited for instruments where room ambience is desired.
Given its low self-noise, a clean, transparent preamp with low gain is ideal—something like a Millennia Media HVN or a similarly high-end option will really let it shine.
