The X1A is a remarkable value – a solid-sounding condenser that punches way above its weight class. It’s a great entry point for home recording, podcasting, or tracking vocals on a budget. Don't expect studio-grade performance, but it's surprisingly capable for the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

The X1A has a slightly warmer, more natural sound than the AT2020, but the AT2020 might be a touch quieter in very quiet environments.
It does mean you’ll lose some of the ultra-fast transient response you’d get from a full-size capsule, but for most vocal applications, it’s not a dealbreaker – it still captures detail well.
Absolutely, it can work well on acoustic guitar, especially if you’re careful with mic placement and use the low-cut filter to manage any muddiness.
