Frequently Asked Questions

The NT3 is generally a bit warmer and less aggressive than the C451 B, lacking a bit of the C451's characteristic 'bite' but offering a more natural, rounded tone.
While the 140 dB SPL handling is decent, a dedicated drum mic would offer more headroom and a more robust build for that application. It's workable in a pinch, but not ideal.
The NT3's lower sensitivity means you'll likely need a preamp, even with a decent portable recorder, to get a clean, usable signal without excessive noise. A battery-powered preamp is a good solution.
