- Handmade master violin by master violin maker Edgar Russ himself in Cremona
- modelled on the ‘Cremonese’ by Antonio Stradivari from 1715
- Top made of typically Italian split hazel spruce from Val di Fiemme
- air-dried for at least 20 years
- Back made of flamed Bosnian maple
- air-dried for at least 25 years
- Sides and neck made from the same wood as the back
- Fingerboard made from finest ebony
- The instrument is varnished entirely in the manner of the great Cremonese masters of the 17th century – this includes: a wood primer based on casein and calcium
- an amber-linseed oil varnish specially formulated by Edgar Russ and coloured with pigments to give the instrument a faithful reproduction of the original
