Frequently Asked Questions

The SM57 is a workhorse, but the Micro-D offers more detail and clarity, especially in capturing the higher frequencies of the snare. It’s a different sonic character – less aggressive, more refined.
The Mini-XLR is less common, but the APS910 makes it compatible with standard XLR snakes. It’s a small inconvenience for the benefits of reduced cable bulk.
While technically possible, the hypercardioid pattern and small diaphragm aren't ideal for toms. You'll get better results sticking to snare and brass instruments.
