Frequently Asked Questions

It's a very close approximation, but the C414 generally exhibits a wider frequency response and a more open, airy quality. Think of the C314 as a more budget-friendly version with a slightly more focused character.
The H85 shock mount is functional and adequately isolates the mic, but it's a fairly basic design. Serious users might eventually upgrade to a more premium option for even better isolation.
Given the sensitivity, a clean, low-noise preamp is key. You don't need anything overly expensive, but a solid-state or tube preamp with good headroom will really let this mic shine.
