The Mini PEG is a quirky and incredibly useful module for adding rhythmic complexity to your sound. Its ping-based envelopes are unlike anything else, and the shape CV input lets you really sculpt the envelope's character. It’s perfect for experimental sound design and anyone wanting a unique timing source.

Product Description

  • 4ms Mini PEG
  • Eurorack Module
  • Synchronisable function generator and LFO
  • Envelope times are determined by the time interval between two trigger impulses or tap inputs (pings)
  • Ping times can be divided by a factor of 32 and multiplied by a factor of 16 via a controller (CV controllable)
  • Shape control with CV input for setting the envelope shape and characteristic (CV controllable)
  • Bipolar scale controller (attenuator) for envelope output
  • Bipolar offset control for envelope output (range: -9.4 V to +9.4 V)
  • Unipolar and bipolar envelope output and EOF gate output
  • Power consumption: 55 mA (+12 V) / 30 mA (-12 V)
  • Width: 8 TE
  • Depth: 24 mm
PROS
  • • Unique ping-based envelope generation offers rhythmic possibilities.
  • • Shape CV input provides nuanced control over envelope character.
  • • Compact 8HP footprint maximizes space in tight Eurorack setups.
  • • Excellent dynamic range with +/- 9.4V output capability.
CONS
  • • Limited overall shape options compared to dedicated envelope modules.
  • • Ping-based timing can be less predictable for precise envelope durations.
  • • The bipolar offset can be a little finicky to dial in accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Instead of attack/decay/sustain/release times, the envelope's shape is determined by the interval between 'pings' – short trigger signals – making it inherently rhythmic and less predictable.
While it excels at complex rhythms, achieving simple, clean envelopes is possible, but requires careful adjustment of the ping rate and shape CV.
The Maths offers more traditional envelope shaping and modulation, while the Mini PEG’s ping-based system offers a very different, more generative approach to envelopes.
