On October 31, 2026, Thomann had 469 full-size (4/4) classical guitars in stock, from $56 to $29,544. Half cost less than $613. What moves the price most is the wood: whether the top, and then the back and sides, are solid wood or layered sheets.
| What Thomann's description says | Guitars | Median price | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| No solid wood mentioned | 149 | $299 | $56 |
| Solid top | 208 | $557 | $211 |
| Solid top, back and sides | 112 | $2,289 | $334 |
A solid top vibrates more freely than a laminated one, so the guitar sounds fuller and its tone opens up as it's played in. Solid back and sides add depth and cost much more, because good tonewood in thick enough pieces is scarce.
Under $200: the first guitar
Yamaha C40 III, $144
A spruce top, the standard 650 mm scale and a 52 mm nut, the full classical neck width. #4 of 350 4/4 size classical guitars.
49 full-size models cost less than $200, and 11 less than $100.
$250 to $750: a solid top
Ortega R131SN, $287
A solid cedar top over mahogany back and sides, with a gig bag included. Cedar sounds warm and responds to a light touch from day one. #15 of 350 4/4 size classical guitars.
The cheapest solid top in our count is Fender's CN-60S at $211, but its 43 mm nut is closer to a steel-string neck than a classical one. Fine if you come from acoustic guitar, not ideal if a teacher will show you classical technique.
$900 and up: all solid wood
Manuel Rodriguez Magistral F-C, $932
Built completely from solid wood, made in Europe: solid cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and a Spanish neck joint. #23 of 350 4/4 size classical guitars.
The Cordoba C10 at $1,422 is the same idea with a Canadian cedar top and an adjustable truss rod. The cheapest all-solid guitar we found, Ortega's R23RO at $334, has a shorter 630 mm scale and a thermo-treated top.
$4,000 and up: master guitars
Master guitars come from small workshops, some with lattice or double-top bracing. Germany's Hanika has five in Thomann's masterclass range, from $4,356 to $5,808. Spain's Ramirez goes up to the Anniversary, limited to 125 pieces, at $29,544.
Nylon strings for electric players
Ibanez Tim Henson TOD10N, $710
The Polyphia guitarist's signature model: a solid spruce top, a cutaway, 22 frets, a 46 mm nut and a Fishman pickup. The neck is made for players who come from electric guitar. #3 of 350 4/4 size classical guitars.
170 of the 469 have a pickup and 137 a cutaway, for players who perform with an amp or need the high frets.
Smaller sizes for children
| Size | Typical age | Models | Median price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1/4 | about 4 to 6 | 10 | $198 |
| 1/2 | about 6 to 8 | 30 | $183 |
| 3/4 | about 8 to 11 | 54 | $204 |
| 7/8 | about 11 to 13, or small hands | 31 | $278 |
Where the numbers come from. Every classical guitar Thomann had in stock on October 31, 2026, from its partner feed. Woods are counted from the words in Thomann's product descriptions: a guitar counts as "solid top" only if the description says so, so some guitars in the first row may have solid tops that aren't mentioned. Prices are Thomann's US-dollar prices.
