Trombonists can't slip their instrument into a backpack, and they rarely get to play anything but the tenor. The best gifts for trombone players change that: a light plastic trombone for travel, an alto for high parts, a valve trombone, or a microphone for the stage. Every pick comes from our rankings, with tonight's Thomann price.

Questions
What is a good gift for a trombone player?
A plastic pBone ($159) is fun for any trombonist; an alto trombone is the useful upgrade.
Is a plastic trombone a real trombone?
Yes. The pBone has the same bore and slide positions as a student tenor trombone, it just weighs about 800 g.
How we picked. Every product comes from an AudioFu ranking, scored on demand, price, specs and brand; specs from Thomann's product data. Prices are converted from euros at the European Central Bank rate and updated every night, as are the ranks.
