Smartelectronix

Smartelectronix is a veteran freeware audio plugin collective that has been operating since the early 2000s, hosting and releasing a range of free, often experimental VST plugins developed by an international community of audio developers. The collective produced several well-regarded freeware tools including the mdaJ Piano (later maintained by Paul Kellett separately), the Anarchy Generative Synthesizer by bram, and various experimental creative tools that were ahead of their time. Smartelectronix represents a formative era of online audio plugin culture — pre-social-media, forum-based, and genuinely community-driven. Many of the tools are now legacy but retain a nostalgic following.
