What's the difference between a student and an intermediate trumpet?
Student models are generally simpler in design and construction, often with less refined valve action and a more basic finish. Intermediate horns usually offer better intonation, a more responsive feel, and sometimes a wider bell flare for improved projection, but the differences can be subtle at this price point.
Can I expect a 'professional' sound from a trumpet under $1000?
Not really. 'Professional' sound implies a level of complexity and nuance that requires higher-end materials, craftsmanship, and intricate design. You'll get a perfectly usable sound, but don't expect it to rival a $3000 horn - that 'fat midrange honk' is harder to achieve on a budget.
