What's the difference between a 10-ply and 12-ply shell?
Generally, fewer plies (like 10) will be a bit more resonant, while more plies (12) will be tighter and have less sustain. It's not always a clear-cut thing, as wood combinations and shell construction play a bigger role.
Can I realistically expect a 'vintage' tone from a drum under $800?
