Product Description

Seymour Duncan SPH90-1B Nickel Cover, Pickup

P90 pickups are considered by many guitarists to produce the best sound around. Powerful and with more attitude than a conventional single coil while clearer and less compromising than a humbucker, these PUs have enjoyed a certain popularity ever since their release, but always retained the image of an insider tip. This was in part due to the fact that P90 pickups only fitted into specially milled pickup slots that were larger than those made for traditional single coils and smaller than those for humbuckers.

With the Phat Cats comes the P90 sound - finally - in the normal humbucker format, allowing one of these to fit into almost any guitar.

  • Phat Cat
  • Bridge position
  • P90 pickup in humbucker style
  • P90's typical
  • rich sound with lots of punch and plenty of upper-mids for extreme power
  • Alnico magnets and shielded coaxial cable
  • Neck and bridge versions work together hum-free
  • Colour: Nickel
PROS

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vintage P90 is a bit more scooped and leans towards a more traditional, mellow tone, while the SPH90-1B has a slightly higher output and more aggressive edge.
While designed for humbucker slots, the P90’s unique voicing can sometimes result in a slightly ‘thicker’ sound than a traditional humbucker – not muddy, but richer and more complex.
The nickel cover is a plated finish, which is standard for Seymour Duncan pickups in this aesthetic – it provides the look without the significant cost increase of solid nickel.
