• Folk Fiddle includes a selection of clean and ornamented string phrases from English

• Scottish folk tunes. It also features a set of chords and riffs to accompany these tunes and useful notes and harmony phrases to complement them. The pack provides a large range of lengths from short
• muted notes to full melody phrases and sustained tones. Picked patterns and some extra bowed instruments such as a balalaika have also been included for more wild and messy sound effects. Folk Fiddle was recorded on an old 1840s French violin
• a modern English 5-string violin
• and a modern English viola hand-crafted by Ben in his workshop. A combination of an AKG 414 ULS and a Neumann U87 was used for its neutrality and renowned airy clarity. The samples are provided in their dry state to preserve the unique character of each instrument and provide a rare opportunity for producers to bring the flavour of live strings into their work through these sounds which have not been overly tamed.
