Product Description

MXR Custom Shop Phase 90 LED, Phaser

The MXR Vintage Phase 90 comes in the classic script logo design. The younger Eddie Van Halen used it to "spice up" his legendary lead sound, which can be heard particularly well on his parade solo "Eruption". In contrast to the popular block logo phaser, the original circuit was used here, and so the phaser sounds just like Eddie, Jimmy Page, and David Gilmour (All I can say is: "Shine On ...").

Of course, there is still only one control with which the speed of the phasing can be adjusted, everything else is preset in such a way that a really pleasant, never too obtrusive sounding effect can be achieved.

For people who need this control, it is also available with LED.

  • - Phasers like the classics
  • but with mini lightshow - beam me up Scotty!
  • Design based on the cult pedal phaser
  • Speed controllable
  • 1/4 "jack In / Out
  • Can be operated with a 9V battery or a separate power unit (not included) available under Article Nr #409939#
  • LED indicates the switching status
PROS
  • • Authentic Vintage Phase 90 circuit recreates Eddie Van Halen’s iconic swirling sound.
  • • LED indicator provides clear visual feedback, a welcome upgrade for stage use.
  • • Classic script logo design delivers the aesthetic of a true vintage piece.
  • • Durable Custom Shop build quality ensures reliability for years of playing.
CONS
  • • Single speed control limits versatility compared to multi-mode phasers.
  • • Compact size might be an issue for players with very large pedalboards.
  • • While excellent, the sound isn’t as dramatically different from a standard Phase 90.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s the same circuit, yes, but the LED provides a visual cue that’s missing on the original, making it more practical for gigging.
The LED version uses the original script logo circuit, which is considered by many to have a slightly warmer, less intense phasing effect than the block logo version.
This phaser shines on clean or slightly overdriven amps; a Fender-style clean tone really lets the swirling effect breathe and cut through.
