The TS9 is the quintessential overdrive pedal for a reason. It’s not a distortion monster, but it’s magic for boosting a clean amp or adding warmth and sustain to a crunchy one. If you’re into blues, classic rock, or need a subtle boost to push your amp into sweeter territory, this is a fantastic and affordable choice.

Product Description

Ibanez TS9, Tube Screamer Treble Booster Pedal

  • When it comes to the classic pedals of rock music
  • the Tubescreamer is one of the most renowned. At the end of the 70s
  • the Ibanez Tube Screamer 808 appeared
  • an overdrive with truly tube-like characteristics
  • creating a sensation. Its successor
  • the TS 9
  • was also well received and has appeared since then on innumerable Pedalboards of the very biggest guitarists. Two prominent representatives deserve to be mentioned here: Stevie Ray Vaughan combined his Fender amps principle with a TS
  • setting a new standard for guitar sounds
  • and Gary Moore got the best out of his Marshals by firing them up with a TS. The TS is not overly distorted
  • but raises the volume and "tickles" the Amp more. Ideal for amplifiers that do not distort so much. One step on the pedal
  • and you have a harmonious
  • balanced and sustainable lead sound. The pedal has the classic Ibanez look of the early 80s.
  • Legendary treble booster pedal with overdrive circuitry
  • Robust construction
  • Controls: Drive
  • Tone
  • Level
  • Power supply via 9 V battery (included) or via mains adapter Art.#409939# (not included)
PROS
  • • Warm, mid-focused overdrive enhances clarity and sustain.
  • • Simple controls allow for quick tonal shaping and dialing in.
  • • Durable construction with a solid metal enclosure for road use.
  • • Classic circuit faithfully reproduces the iconic Tube Screamer sound.
CONS
  • • Limited versatility; excels in specific genres, less ideal for extreme distortion.
  • • Can muddy high-gain amp setups if not used carefully.
  • • True bypass is absent, potentially coloring the signal even when 'off'.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TS9 is essentially an earlier iteration of the 808, with a slightly different voicing; many find the TS9's mids to be a touch more prominent, giving it a distinct character.
While it can, the TS9's mid-boost can sometimes clash with high-gain amps, creating a muddy sound; experiment with the Drive knob carefully.
It can introduce a slight coloration, but it's often subtle and contributes to the pedal's characteristic warmth; it's a design choice, not necessarily a flaw.
