The Rocket-Amp is a fun, loud little harmonica—perfect for beginners or players who want a straightforward, amplified sound. The progressive tuning offers some unique intervals, so it’s not your typical blues harp, but it’s a blast for rock, folk, and even some country. It's a great value for the money and a surprisingly capable instrument.

Product Description

Hohner Rocket-Amp Progressive Bb major, Harmonica

Thanks to its newly developed design, the Rocket-Amp can be played particularly loudly. This is made possible, on the one hand, by the larger tone holes and laterally closed covers, and on the other hand by completely embedding the reed plates in the comb. In addition, the diatonic harmonica offers a pleasant playing experience thanks to its ergonomically shaped comb body.

  • Bb major
  • 0.9 mm brass reed plate
  • Finish: Stainless steel
  • Richter model with green plastic comb
  • Laterally closed covers
  • Larger tone holes
  • Length: 10.2 cm
  • Case included
PROS
  • • Larger tone holes deliver surprisingly loud, powerful projection for a diatonic.
  • • Embedded reed plates enhance resonance and minimize comb noise—a clever design choice.
  • • Stainless steel covers offer a durable, responsive feel with a bright tone.
  • • Ergonomic comb shape improves comfort during extended playing sessions.
CONS
  • • The bright tone, while desirable for some, might lack warmth for traditional blues.
  • • Progressive tuning can be disorienting for players accustomed to standard Richter.
  • • Plastic comb, while durable, doesn’t offer the premium feel of wood or metal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Progressive tuning allows for some cross-harp playing without needing to draw or overblow, but it can feel unusual initially if you're used to standard Richter tuning.
Absolutely; the design with laterally closed covers and embedded reeds minimizes feedback and maximizes volume when plugged into an amplifier.
The plastic comb contributes to a brighter, more immediate tone compared to wooden combs, and it’s very durable, but it won't offer the complex overtones of a higher-end wooden comb.
