These Mini Humbuckers are a fantastic throwback for players seeking that classic Les Paul Deluxe vibe. They’re really great for cleaner tones and big band guitar sounds – anything where you want clarity and a focused, bell-like character rather than a scooped, modern humbucker sound. Perfect for players wanting a vintage tone without a vintage price tag.

Product Description

Gibson Mini Humbucker R Chrome, Pickup

Originally, the mini humbuckers were only found on the Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. The narrower magnetic field produces a clear and compact sound compared to normal humbuckers. In the 1970s, these pickups were often replaced by stronger (and often significantly lower) pickups - today, where gain and sustain are no longer a big issue thanks to the modern amps and pedals, you can appreciate the great sound of these pickups.

  • The model for the neck position has a little less output and sounds wonderfully bell-like - ideal for the big band of guitarists
  • where a normal humbucker at the neck always sounds messy.
  • Small size
  • Limited magnetic field - a clear and focused sound
  • Original replica with Alnico II magnets
  • Adjustable pole screws
  • With cream-coloured plastic handles
  • Suitable for the neck position
  • Cover: Chrome
PROS
  • • Alnico II magnets deliver a sweet, bell-like tone characteristic of vintage Gibsons.
  • • Narrow magnetic field focuses the sound, providing clarity and a defined attack.
  • • Chrome finish offers a classic aesthetic and a touch of visual flair.
  • • Adjustable pole screws allow for precise output balancing across the strings.
CONS
  • • Lower output compared to modern pickups might require more gain from your amp.
  • • Limited versatility; excels in cleaner tones, less suited for extreme high-gain applications.
  • • Smaller size might necessitate adjustments to your guitar's pickup routing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The smaller size and narrower magnetic field result in a more focused and less powerful sound than standard humbuckers, offering a unique tonal quality.
They generally fit, but you might need to slightly modify the pickup cavity; check your guitar's routing before purchasing.
While they can, their lower output means you’ll likely need to crank the amp’s gain to achieve a similar level of distortion compared to hotter pickups.
