The Seydel Fanfare S Tremolo D is a real game-changer for tremolo lovers. The stainless steel reeds give it a crisp, modern voice that cuts through a mix beautifully, and the easy response makes it surprisingly accessible. It's perfect for players wanting a vibrant, controlled tremolo sound, especially those coming from chromatic harmonicas.

Product Description

C.A. Seydel Söhne Fanfare S Tremolo D, Tremolo Harmonica

The first tremolo harmonica with stainless steel reeds. The Fanfare is a tremolo harmonica that has been optimised for air-tightness and that can be played with a richness and lightness unusual for tremolo harmonicas. In contrast to other tremolo models, no great air pressure is required for playing - the approach is similar to the gentle response of chromatic harmonicas.

  • Tuning: D
  • 12 Channels
  • 48 Reeds
  • With optimised ventilation for the typical tremolo sound
  • Acrylic comb
  • Mouth piece: Chrome plated brass
  • Reed plate: 1.0 mm brass
  • Microfibre cloth included
PROS
  • • Stainless steel reeds offer exceptional durability and a bright, clear tone.
  • • Optimized ventilation yields a remarkably responsive tremolo effect, easy to control.
  • • Acrylic comb minimizes moisture retention, extending playability and reducing maintenance.
  • • Chrome-plated brass mouthpiece provides a comfortable, secure feel for extended playing.
CONS
  • • The bright tone might not suit players seeking a darker, more traditional tremolo sound.
  • • Premium-priced point may be a barrier for budget-conscious players.
  • • Tremolo harmonicas inherently have a limited versatility compared to diatonic or chromatic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stainless steel offers a brighter, more focused tone with quicker response, lacking the warmer, slightly more complex character of brass – a distinct sonic shift.
Yes, the Fanfare S’s optimized ventilation and lighter reed action make it significantly easier to play compared to many older tremolo designs, requiring less breath pressure.
Acrylic resists moisture absorption better than wood, leading to more consistent tuning and less frequent cleaning, although it lacks the traditional warmth some players prefer.
