Product Description
- Percussion can be found all around you! From the clacking of your mechanical keyboard to the dripping of water in your kitchen sink
- these sounds can be repurposed and layered into your beats to create interesting organic textures within your music. With Obscura
- we were influenced to do just this; to create useful rhythms out of the mundane - we took a look around the studio
- office
- and home
- sampling everything we could get our hands on. Then we processed and warped the sounds with filters
- distortion & pitch shifters
- chopped them up
- dropped them into a sampler
- and started creating percussion loops. Staplers
- coffee mugs
- buttons
- switches
- kitchen appliances
- squeaky chairs
- toys
- cables
- desks
- food
- water
- creaky floorboards
- keyboards
- office stationery
- game controllers
- vases
- glasses
- tools
- clothes
- etc. These are just a few items we initially sampled (the ones we can remember anyway). To complement the percussion
- we also recorded some instruments: guitars
- bass
- kalimbas
- flutes
- and a glockenspiel were given the same dirty processing
