• 5Pin Media pushes the creative sound design envelope with live performed acoustic and electric piano processed through coveted external boutique effects and outboard gear.   Creative Piano provides producers with a pallet of sounds and textures that transcends any given genre and explores the emotion of sound using what is arguably the most iconic of instruments in both it's acoustic and electric form. The concept was to record a live performed piano piece (both audio + MIDI) and then apply the MIDI to a variety of Piano sources followed by extensive signal processing. The results were then arranged into separate project folders where they underwent a selection process and in certain instances further variations/layers were added. The degree of complexity and variation per project depended on the feel of the piece and variety of sources used. The logic behind this approach was to enable a multitude of tonal possibilities by layering one or more parts. A typical example would be combining one of the "Basic" takes with either an overdriven Binson Delay version or LoFi version that can be blended over time - think of it as having multiple effect sends to hand. Based on the guitar like chime of the Clavinet in the early part of the demo track
• it would be fair to say that in many instances the effects processing has resulted in a unique "non-piano" sound that has an abundance of character with that elusive "hook" factor. In essence there are "Basic" takes which have minimal effects processing in addition to several effected and LoFi versions per project folder.                The applied outboard effects range from RE201 and Binson style delays with dynamic modulation of parameters such as input overdrive for shifting saturated tones. • downsampling and vinyl simulation. The final stage of the recording makes use of outboard analog processing from a selection of gear such as the Culture Vulture Super 15 valve distortion amp
